Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Engineer at our Phoenix Mine site operations. The Open Pit Engineering team engages with all areas of the Open Pit Division as they are essential for all facets of mining from the design and planning for a future area or phase, through to drilling and blasting, and finally to what and how the material is moved. Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to a Senior Mine Engineer, the Open Pit Mine Engineer I or II is responsible for the following:
  • The assignment of duties in short-range planning, dump planning, drill and blast engineering, ore control, road design, dispatch engineering and/or other engineering projects as required within the Turquoise Ridge Surface Engineering group
  • Develop and communicate engineering plans, pattern designs, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required
  • One (1) to five (5) years' experience in open pit engineering preferred
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required
  • Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks.
