Are you a proficient teacher with a solid understanding of dispatch systems?

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, the Dispatch Training Specialist is responsible for working closely with our operating sites to provide dispatcher training in classroom and real-time environments, and develop and maintain training documents relating to dispatching site operating strategies.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Someone who is a motivated self starter, organized, able to prioritize contending demands, and has strong analytical and problem solving skills. Someone who has strong influencing skills, who can work well with a team, but can work at a high level with minimal direction. These skills are vital as you will be training and mentoring our dispatch team to success.

You will have the opportunity to engage with our operations across British Columbia and build relationships with all our dispatch teams. You will also have the ability to own your role and manage your day to day tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Ensure the dispatch training program and skillsets are up to date to reflect current site operating strategies and personnel requirements
  • Schedule and deliver comprehensive dispatcher training through simulation, test environments, classroom, and in-seat training
  • Evaluate dispatch users on both a technical and operational basis
  • Maintain all documentation pertinent to training, reporting, and user follow-up
  • Complete monthly reports highlighting individual and site strengths and opportunities for improvement related to fleet management
  • Participate in periodic training sessions given by the fleet managements system provider on new applications, releases, and tools that are relevant for our coal operations
  • Analyze, identify, and engage in Communities of Practice to prioritize continuous improvement to our dispatch system and technology
  • Participate and provide support to other business improvement initiatives across the operations


Qualifications :
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated ability in a large open pit mining operation with significant experience and knowledge in fleet management
  • High proficiency with Wenco or other fleet management systems
  • Strong digital literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Familiarity with data analytics
