Purpose
The QAQC Superintendent will be the accountable professional for the management of all aspects linked to the construction works quality assurance and quality control. Most of the construction works will be focused directly or indirectly to the Tailings Management Facility TMF of Cobre Panama. The professional and his team in charge will ensure that the company standards are met, the design basis of the dam is followed, industry best practices are applied, the OMS is implemented, the soil laboratory performance is adequate, field inspections and audits are executed, and keeping all the records in an appropriate manner.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges

• Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
• Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the process plant control room.
• Develop the Quality Management Plan in collaboration with geotechnical engineer, Technical advisor and EOR and Ensure its Implementation
• Develops procedures/instructions for station-specific aspects
• Demonstrates the achievement of quality objectives and targets
• Establish Quality Control Processes for all civil, geotechnical processes involved in construction and operation.
• Coordinate all required Quality Control tasks to assure compliancy to regulation
• Responsible for quality management in the delivery of the TMF construction process
• Review all testing / monitoring processes planned against design
• Work between design and construction to ensure integrity of testing, assumptions, recommendations and delivery
• Ensure maintenance of all related testing and inspection records, drawings and specifications
• Maintain a non-conformance and corrective action register
• Provide ongoing review of construction activities against required design and international standards
• Supervise the laboratory and field technician and survey team
• Provide training and supervision to field and laboratory technicians
• Submit records to geotechnical engineer/EOR for quarterly and ad-hoc review, as required.
• Implement the OMS manual as per his/her area of responsibility
• Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
• Implement FQM Way culture in the Control Room team - \"Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together.\"
• Perform any other duties as assigned by TMF Manager.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Education, Experience & Language
  • Civil / Geotechnical / Environmental / Geology engineering Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in tailings management facility design, construction and review
  • Experience in high rainfall terrains
  • Supervisory role experience
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting civil construction to ISO standards or equivalent
  • Demonstrated capacity to establish Quality system standards
  • Previous experience with cyclone sand placement methodology
  • Previous extended tours of work in man camp/remote access locations or experience as a field contractor highly preferred.
  • Blillingual in both English and Spanish
