The Opportunity:
As a Co-op student you will be an important part of the procurement team working with Senior Category Buyers for various categories (Global/Regional) to understand complex supply chains of mining industry (from demand planning, procurement, operations, projects, logistics) in a fast-moving global company.

What will you do?
- Work in compliance with all company Safety procedures
- Interface with stakeholders across the Vale business working on small projects delivering real value
- Undertake real time data analysis to justify decision making for the business
- Develop strong negotiations skills through negotiation with global suppliers
- Present outcomes to peers and management to keep them well informed of progress
- Utilize bespoke online computer programs to track the procurement and logistics process from inception to award and beyond
- Research current supply base for avenues of cost savings or value-added
- Assist in tracking of company goals and objectives
- Assist in supplier development
- Assist in maintaining vendor files, purchase price, and price fluctuations on purchased items
- Implement projects, and reports to contribute to various studies as required
Education and Experience:
- This co-op opportunity is for a student’s currently enrolled in 3rd year degree program, Enrollment in Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mining Engineering Business/Accounting/IT/Digital/Project Management are preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
- Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong MS Office skills – Excel (spreadsheets), Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent problem-solving techniques and methods
- Team player and work well with different team/departments.
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
