The Business Analyst will join a team of professionals offering business transformation and strategy consulting services to clients in the mining and metals, infrastructure, energy, and finance industries.

The Business Analyst will be responsible for analysis of businesses’ technical performance indicators and costs, identification, ranking and management of risks, development of financial models to support investment decisions, and preparation of client-facing deliverables such as reports, plans, and presentations. S/he will work closely with client operation teams, supporting start up planning activities, workshops, assessments, and development of operational strategies.

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, hardworking, team-oriented, friendly, creative, insightful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with imperfect or limited information. The goal is to identify, unlock, and materialize value for our clients.

Responsibilities:

Work with Hatch and client project teams to deliver high quality results for our clients, including:
  • Analysis and reporting within Advisory projects.
  • Assist with project management and coordination duties, such as work planning, invoicing, reporting and updating the technical and commercial software.
  • Research, review, clean and analyze data to facilitate the development of well-supported, value-add solutions to customers’ most complex challenges
  • Facilitate workshops with clients.
  • Develop and deliver presentations both internally and for clients.
  • Develop detailed financial models and asset cost structure models.
  • Assist with risk analysis for project assessments and due diligence reviews.
  • Select and use a variety of business analysis tools and techniques, asset improvement, process optimization and asset management techniques
  • Assist clients to identify opportunities, create and execute a strategy, achieve the expected outcomes, and sustain these outcomes through the development of asset strategies, key performance indicators and performance measures
  • Create and design client-facing presentations, proposals, reports and spreadsheets.


Support Advisory business practice internal materials and infrastructure, including:
  • Assist senior leaders to document business processes and business practices effectively.
  • Assist in the development of communications (proposals, internal business planning reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Create and develop functional tools to improve quality, performance, and reduce constraints.
  • Work with team members to continuously improve practice services and capability
  • Ensure that system and projects infrastructure, including documents, manuals, policies are kept up to date and are available on the right place.
  • Work with client management software to help manage resource and work planning
  • Review and analyze Advisory practice financial results; prepare presentations for senior management


Additionally, the candidate will need to:

  • Work on a variety of projects, with exposure to several industries, geographies and project types
  • Undertake potentially frequent international travel to client/project sites
  • Development of general business project skills and/or greater depth of knowledge within an industry or functional specialization
  • Identify and engage existing clients to further develop business opportunities
  • Identify and engage new clients to grow the practice
  • Remaining abreast of the industry, competitors and trends with a view to ensuring that the firm's services best align to market needs. Constantly develop and review client’s approach.
  • Keep up to date with issues and trends in information systems and their use in the mining, metals, energy or infrastructure.
  • Focus will be on deliverable preparation, personal development, and exposure to new concepts, industries, and clients


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree. Engineering with minor in business, commerce, economics, or relevant business course work preferred
  • 2-5 years industry experience relevant to mining, metals, energy, infrastructure or finance
  • Proven experience in using research and analysis tools
  • Superior communicator with the ability to interact professionally and considerately with client(s), gaining co-operation and respect, in both French and English.
  • Ability to work independently and under own initiative, or actively contribute as an effective member of a team
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to a broad range of project types and responsibilities
  • Excellent analytical and summarization skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of software including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Experience working in a high-energy, deliverable-oriented environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience driving plant improvements such as time, reliability, output, and quality
  • Strong data analytics skills, including experience with business requirements gathering, analysis and ability to translate business requirements into technical process solutions.
