The Environmental Officer is accountable for providing environmental support to the Maules Creek Coal Mine in line with the company's environmental management plans and regulatory requirements.
The Role: Environmental Advisor (Maules Creek, NSW)
An outstanding opportunity has become available for an Environmental Advisor to join the team at Maules Creek.

To be successful in the role you will:
  • Assist in the implementation of mine rehabilitation programs to meet statutory conditions and commitments including supervision of planting, seeding and weed control with the site rehabilitation areas.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities including collating field monitoring data in the areas of noise performance, blasting, ground and surface water, dust and meteorology; updating environmental monitoring results on the database, investigating and managing any issues and providing feedback to management.
  • Undertake training of employees in environmental compliance needs.
  • Liaise with consultants and contractors to ensure timely submission of reports, completion of field monitoring requirements, and completion of other general environmental activities.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of environmental management plans.
  • Assist with the maintenance of a reporting system and the preparation and submission of Mining Operations Plans, Annual Review and Annual Return documentation and any other compliance-related documentation for submission to relevant government departments prior to the due date.
  • Assist with the community consultation program including regular engagement with nominated landowners and community stakeholders, investigating complaints and advising management on resolution options.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of regulatory processes in the mining sector
  • 3-5 years in a similar position
  • High level oral and written communication skills, particularly in delivering information and liaising with stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within required deadlines
