Project Improvement Engineer - Autonomous Mining
Work Location: Solomon
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Project Improvement Engineer - Autonomous Mining to join our Mining Projects team. Reporting to the Mining Projects Superintendent at Fortescue's Solomon Mine, your role will involve supporting the mining operations team in leading the optimisation of Caterpillar COMMAND AHS solution, including autonomous drilling and dozing. You will collaborate with our operational personnel and leaders to ensure we are focusing on initiatives that will add the highest amount value to the business.
You will have strong interpersonal skills with good understanding of operational and planning functions within the mining industry for Autonomous Operations, including technical and support functions that support these areas. You will possess strong technical skills and be able to articulate potential risks and opportunities to relevant stakeholders.

You will possess strong technical skills and be able to articulate potential risks and opportunities to relevant stakeholders.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead advanced analytics to deliver innovative insights into measuring productivity and quality across the Solomon Mining teams and use these insights to drive the efficiency of Autonomous operations to global best-practice standards through targeted projects
- Planning, executing and delivery of project improvements; objectively, efficiently and effectively by executing and coordinating deliverables
- Ensure site systems and process align with, and support Autonomous operations to best practices and manage the change management process to update these systems and processes, as required
- Assist in building and maintaining processes, tools and systems to assist our mining teams in day to day improvements
- Facilitate mandatory transfer of Autonomous Mining Systems knowledge to site-based leadership
Qualifications and skills required:
- 3+ years hands-on experience with Autonomous Haulage Systems
- 3+ years experience in an open cut mining environment
- Project evaluation, management and delivery skills with strong ability to take initiative
- Practical and solutions focused approach to engineering and design problems
- Must be able to work with wide-range of stakeholders, building and maintaining rapport, understanding stakeholder needs and using influencing skills to establish a win-win outcome
- Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities at the same time
- Computer proficiency (Excel, MS Office), exposure to databases (Tableau, SQL, Power BI, Python)
- Mining Operator experience is highly regarded
- Graduate or Post Graduate qualification in Mining Technology, Mining Engineering or related field desirable
