Purpose

The Mine Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment electrical, electronic and air conditioning system.
The electrician in this classification performs routine inspection and maintenance in electrical and AC systems, to provide continuous operation of vehicles and production equipment.

Essential Duties

Health & Safety
 Report to work physically fit
 Follow procedures. Speak up to persons involved and inform your supervisor when you identify a less safe situation
 Report safety incidents and support investigations
 Complete safety training and certification as required by site and departmental procedure
 Actively participate in daily prestart meetings
 Actively participate in back-to-work and toolbox meetings
 Complete a SLAM at the start of any job.
 Assist in the creation of Job Hazard Analysis
 Perform daily workplace inspections to identify hazards
 Report any identified hazard and assist in eliminating or controlling the risks
 Report safety incidents
 Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy workplace by following good housekeeping practices.
 Encourage a safe work culture by making safety the top priority in every job performed.

Operational Excellence & Growth
Strategy and Procedure Development

 Act as a team player.
 Be polite and available to address all customer concerns and handle them in a professional manner that is satisfactory to both the customer and to the Maintenance Department.
 Ensure department's compliance with the requirement of Government of Suriname's Agencies, Newmont Goldcorp Suriname lending institutions, shareholders' environmental, health and Safety legislation and company regulations.

Maintenance Execution
 Perform work using hand/power tools, test equipment and other instruments typical to electrical, electronic and air conditioning maintenance tasks.
 Perform low voltage isolations and testing on mobile equipment.
 Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as per developed work instructions to ensure safe and reliable operation of LV & HV electrical, electronic and air conditioning system.
 Perform troubleshooting and repair faulty equipment.
 Maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout workshops to ensure a safe work environment and effectively manage risks.
 Maximise asset value through effective utilisation, care and security of maintenance equipment and tools with due consideration of safety and environmental issues.
 Complete all administrative processing requirements associated with maintenance duties, such as requisitioning of parts and materials, processing of maintenance orders, and recording of labour time using SAP system.

 Demonstrate the desire to learn, promoting personal development and improving the quality of the team
 While enhancing skills in basic electrical and AC maintenance, this person is being trained on the job to become competent in grade level 4A.
 Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Training & Experience

Knowledge:
 High School Diploma (MULO, LTO, LBO) or equivalent level of competencies, demonstrated through a Prior Learning Knowledge Assessment.
 Technical diploma (NATIN or AMTO).
 A trade certification from a recognized training institution is required.
 Hold a Driver Permit to operate Light Vehicles
Experience:
 The candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience as Maintenance Electrician on Mobile Equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
 Mechanical aptitude.
 Must be physically fit.
 Must be open and autonomous.
 Has the desire to learn and improve job quality.
 Demonstrate good communication skills
 Communicate in local language (Sranan Tongo and Dutch) at a good standard.
 Communicate in English, at a moderate standard.
 Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
 Operate light vehicles
 Ability to understand and carry out instructions
 Ability to identify, remove and install electrical components.

Working Conditions

The position is located on the Merian mine site in Suriname, a remote site located in a warm, humid tropical rainforest environment.
 Accommodation is in a man camp/village environment near the workplace.
 Works on a schedule of 14 days of work at 11.5 hours per day followed by 7 days of rest including transportation and rotating between dayshift and nightshift.
 Works in the open mine maintenance workshop and performing maintenance jobs in the mine operations area.
 Works outdoor in all weather conditions.
 Regular exposure to moderate amounts of noise, dust, dirt, and occasionally works at heights in excess of 6 feet.
 Wears personal protective equipment including hardhat, steel-toed shoes, rubber boots, long sleeved shirts, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, gloves, or any other equipment to perform duties safely as required by the Health and Safety plan.
