Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations in 2003, Sepon has produced over one million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.2 million ounces of gold doré. In 2019, LXML produced over 72,000 tonnes of copper. 

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth.  With the re-commencement of gold production at Sepon in 2020, and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

To support our operation, we are seeking a qualified candidate of Advisor - Sourcing. This role will be reporting to the Superintendent Procurement, the incumbent will be responsible for all assigned procurement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for sourcing activities related to Capital, Special / Direct, Stock / Catalogue (non-MSA), Once-off / Ad-hoc Services and  Emergency purchases
  • Sourcing activity includes;
  • Identifying suitable bidders
  • Preparing, issuing and managing RFQ’s
  • Performing commercial evaluation and facilitating technical evaluations
  • Required negotiations on terms and pricing
  • Preparing and getting approvals for RTA’s
  • Ensuring PO’s are placed in accordance with sourcing results
  • Collaboration with end-users throughout the process to secure and ensure alignment
  • Act in a responsible, courteous manner with the appropriate levels of cultural sensitivity during all interactions with colleagues, suppliers and contractors.
  • Support Superintendent Procurement/ Senior Specialist - Supply as required.
  • Leads development and execution of sourcing strategies, which align with business and stakeholder requirements.
  • Develops and leads cross-functional teams in purchasing strategy development, sourcing and negotiations.
  • Undertakes due diligence in mitigating all external supply risk from supplier / contractor selection.
  • Identification and confirmation of the required level of expediting and logistics coordination depending on the nature of purchases.
  • Deliver robust cost management and minimizes business risk.
  • Maintain relationships with site and internal groups and co-ordinate activities in a controlled manner.
  • Provide gatekeeper function for key purchasing strategies and activities.
  • Identify and escalate purchasing related problems. 
  • Routinely communicates openly and with integrity with key business & external stakeholders.
  • Identify, recommend and implement efficiency and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and deliver value through pro-actively establishing processes that correct non-compliance.
  • Demonstrate total transparency and ethical business practices in all activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years in Procurement.
  • 3+ year within the resource industry, Chinese ability is advantage.
