Fortescue is now consistently producing 175-180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead, establishing itself for future growth in a global market through innovation, product diversification and asset development.

The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2022.

Iron Bridge is Fortescue's US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

AHS Mine Controller

Work Location: Iron Bridge

Roster: 8D:6R until April, then 8D:6R, 7D:7R FIFO ex Perth

Critical to the success of Fortescue's operation of Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) trucks, this role is accountable for the effective utilization of the Autonomous Haulage Fleet using Command Minestar.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Assistance with the execution of the 24 hour mine & maintenance plans
  • Maximise equipment productivity and efficiency by the accurate and timely reporting of maintenance issues
  • Evaluate continuously the data accuracy and integrity in the system
  • Interact with the system to monitor and record operation of equipment statuses
  • Monitor and action information provided by tyre management systems, weather applications and monitor the maintenance status applications (REMS)
  • Prioritising competing demands - phone, two way and in-office communication
  • Understand the correct procedures in case of critical failures in the system and associated applications
  • Ensure the integrity of the mine model (road network, locations, equipment etc.) report any mine model issues to the Minestar builder.
  • Minimise shift delays and normal maintenance delays (fuelling, tire re-torques, etc.)

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 2 years in an open cut mining environment would be advantageous, however candidates with Engineering or IT backgrounds can be trained.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills and a passion for Innovation and Technology
  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities at the same time
  • Proficiency of Fleet Management System is advantageous but not essential
  • Mining Operator experience is highly regarded.
