Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Asset Management Specialist – Utilities to join our Smart Grid and Asset Management team.

As an accredited asset management assessor, and a corporate member of the International Association of Asset Management (IAM), Hatch is expanding activities in the Asset Management and Regulatory Advisory sector, providing advisory service to electric utilities. The Smart Grid & Asset Management team supports the integration of intermittent generation technologies, conducts impact assessments & location optimization of energy storage systems, develops roadmaps for the deployment of grid modernization and advanced asset management systems, and continues to advice utilities on how to leverage emerging technologies in their capital planning programs.

As an Asset Management Specialist, Utilities, you will be responsible for securing new engagements, delivering projects that meet/exceed client expectations, and guiding junior members of the asset management team. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, leveraging expertise from within the company, to lead both projects of various sizes and complexities and client engagements.

Business Development Responsibilities may include:
  • Identifying target utility clients requiring such services, with a focus on the North American utility market
  • Establishing, stewarding, and challenging client relationships
  • Leading and/or participation in Bib/No Bid discussions for potential opportunities
  • Leading and/or supporting the creation of proposals, including methodology and resource estimates
  • Staying informed on related market developments within the utility and asset management sectors, and leading the refinement of the team’s offerings to meet client needs and exceed expectations.


Project Delivery Responsibilities may include:
  • Solve challenging problems that could include planning, business case development, implementation, monitoring, or assessments of any project scope referenced above.
  • Depending on the project, lead the execution, as project manager, or support the delivery, as an asset management and / or regulatory subject matter expert
  • Coordinate activities, and those of the broader project teams, to maintain project schedules & budgets to ensure successful project completion
  • Support the identification and selection of potential partners such as vendors or niche specialists


What you bring to the role:
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 10 years of experience working at, or directly for, an electric utility, preferably in, or regularly with, the asset management / capital planning team
  • Strong utility sector relationships
  • Significant experience in the development and/or implementation of a utility asset management program
  • Knowledge of the requirements within asset management standards ISO 55000, 55001, and 55002
  • Familiar with asset management program software tools; for example, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and investment decision support tools
  • Familiar with the application of data analytics to asset management challenges
  • Experience with system optimized planning & utilization, asset evaluation & selection, development, asset GIS tagging & tracking, maintenance planning, and ultimate disposal or renewal of utility assets
  • Experience leading project delivery teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other applicable technical degree, preferably Electrical
