Commercial Finance Business Partner Global Marine Operations

· Make a difference in a commercial organisation. Specifically, the global Marine operations represent $3B of freight operations and moving over 40Mt of commodities globally across Rio Tinto operations. Managed primarily across our Singapore and Montreal commercial hubs

· Opportunity to work on a variety of complex projects

· Contribute to our marine performance and provide inputs into the business strategy

· Strategic Business Partner working closely with key stakeholders globally across Commercial, Operations, and Areas of Expertise such as Risk, Controllership, Market Analysis, Treasury, Tax, etc.

· Lead a team of three Commercial Finance Advisors.

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner for our growing Commercial division.

This role is a great opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders to provide advice to the business and support the development and execution of strategic decision making. Reporting to the General Manager Finance we are looking for a strategic professional to drive performance in our global Marine and Logistics business

· Understand and contribute to the development of business strategy and planning

o Influence senior management in shaping commercial strategies, priorities and delivering outcomes

o Producing business financial plans and forecasts

· Drive performance management, providing commercial and financial insight

o Provide actionable insights into top line, bottom line, ROCE and cash performance, through production of a wide range of financial analysis and insight that give the business a transparent understanding of performance, past and forecasted/planned

o Use this insight to identify opportunities and risks, and makes recommendations

o Partner with Market Analysis to evaluate benchmarking performance

o Partner with Business Analysis to perform due diligence into major investments and support significant contract or commercial negotiations

o Enabling proper Support costs budgeting and management for the business in conjunction with Controllership

o Enabling leadership to hold the organisation to account, monitor progress against plan and challenge variances

· Protects the financial health of the business and support risk management

o Enabling the efficiency and effectiveness of the end 2 end governance and compliance processes relevant to our businesses

· Drives change initiatives and transformation in Finance

o Support a range of commercial and group projects

o Identify efficiency gains and performance improvements

o Uses best practices and knowledge of internal and external business environment to provide advice to the business and improve processes and performance

o Develops finance capability within the business: Work with Group to ensure fit for purpose systems, processes, KPIs, reporting, planning and forecasting

o Manage financial advisers

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

· Bachelor and/or professional qualification MBA, ACA, CPA etc

· 10 years + commercial finance experience with exposure to shipping/ logistics within a complex global organisation

· Experience effectively managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

· Analytical, strategic and forward thinking competencies

· Experience working on complex M&A, JV and Partnerships

· Continuous improvement, value creation with evidence of identifying and mitigating risks

· Experience of driving large change projects or programmes

· Strong background of influencing and working with diverse teams in matrix model
