Summary

The Hatch Mining group is seeking a Mining EIT. Reporting to the Regional Director of Mining, you will support projects globally based out of our Sudbury office.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in a project team environment to assist with underground and/or open pit mining studies, including first principle mining engineering, benchmarking, mine designs and schedules
  • Carrying out calculations, simulations and verifications related to mine design, which may include materials handling, ventilation, stoping and production plans, shaft and hoisting systems, etc.
  • Reviewing and commenting on Contractor drawings, reports and documents
  • Guide the Contractor in carrying out detail engineering and purchasing activities in matters related to mining engineering
  • Equipment sizing and communication with vendors to ensure that equipment selected meets requirements
  • Assist with technical bid evaluations for equipment and making recommendations for purchase
  • Interaction with other mining engineers in the organization to ensure that technology is shared effectively
  • Assistance with development of cost estimations and economic evaluations
  • Report writing for studies
  • Assist in the generation of operating manuals, plant startups and commissioning where required
  • The work will be a mix of studies, detailed engineering, and on-site assistance.


Education and Experience:

  • Successful candidates will have a Bachelor of Science or Engineering in mining or a mining-related discipline.
  • Attributes most sought after are strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, enthusiasm, initiative, writing skills, solid academic achievement, and commitment.
  • Previous mining-related student experience would be a definite asset.
