Job Summary:

The Scheduler is responsible for the planning and performance monitoring of assigned project(s), including providing guidance to the Project Manager through the implementation of scheduling processes and procedures. The incumbent must be able to understand contracts, track performance daily, weekly, and monthly, incorporate quantitative and qualitative analysis, and to define the physical performance of the projects and recommend action to be taken should deviations from the optimal schedule be highlighted.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and define the schedule baselines for projects, including the development of schedule management plans, project specific scheduling procedures and to assist management.
  • The efficient and effective planning and scheduling to ensure minimum downtime and maximum productivity.
  • To manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient work control plan.
  • Responsible for initial identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning and incorporation into the project schedule
  • provide Project Controllers with earned value derived from labour resource loaded schedules
  • Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job planning/scheduling requirements.
  • Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work
  • Administrative set-up of new projects, including assistance with timekeeping, reporting and document management.
  • Compiling, updating and tracking project schedules using advanced Primavera P6.
  • Ensure the Management of Change process is maintained and integrated with Redpath’s policies, procedures and schedules.
  • Assist the Project Controller to maintain construction change orders and/or claims, including associated registers.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships within the project team and with the Client.
  • Demonstrate clear and visible commitment to The Redpath Group’s philosophies and guidelines for success at all times.
  • Ensure that the project is carried out in compliance with the Client’s, Redpath’s and jurisdictionally legislated health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Education and Work Experience:

  • University degree in related scientific, business or engineering field. Individuals with a Construction Management or Quantity Surveying degree are also encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in field or office-based controls experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining environment.
  • Advanced experience with Primavera P6.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Highly proficient in Primavera P6, including resource loading
  • Good knowledge of software tools (MS Office).
  • Good understanding of general business interfaces/process as related to procurement, human resources, procurement, engineering, operations, and accounting.
  • Able to understand and interpret contracts and subcontracts.
  • must have the ability to read engineering & construction drawings and translate them into working schedule
  • Extensive knowledge of schedule management
  • Proven leadership skills and abilities.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate team commitment.
  • Culturally mature – able to work with personnel with different cultural backgrounds.
