Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About the Role

Positions Reports To: Finance Manager

Position Overview

As part of the Finance Team, the Senior Accountant is responsible for th emonth and year end close, benchmarking and analysis, presentations, and other related month end reporting on a consisten and accurate basis. The Financial Accountant will also be involved in preparting and reviewing budgets, forecasts, developing reports, systems administration, and audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting Management in the budgeting, reporting, review and analysis of departmental costs and performance
  • Developing effective cost systems and procedures
  • Assisting in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process including booking journal entries, preparing monthly reports, updating schedules, ad hoc analysis, and more
  • Monitoring accounting functions to ensure sound fiscal control in addition to performing cost control activities
  • Generating monthly reports to assist Management in understanding departmental costs
  • Preparing general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Coordinating with internal & external auditors for audits and reviews
  • Maintaining SOX working papers and ensuring compliance with internal controls
  • Performing other duties in full compliance with IFRS and New Gold standards, policies, and procedures


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, etc.)
  • Professional accounting designation or working towards designation is required
  • Experience working in an accounting firm is an asset
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (within the mining/resource sector preferred)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with SAP, and BPC would be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely
  • Experience working at a remote work site is an asset
  • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment
  • Relocation required
