POSITION PURPOSE
The General Manager provides leadership and direction on all aspects of the East Tennessee Mines site and ensures that production outputs are achieved in an efficient and cost effective manner while continuously improving both safety and environmental performance. As GM you develop and ensure the execution of appropriate measures and targets to allow the business to meet and exceed required performance in all areas of the business. (Mine, Process, Maintenance, Human Resources, Technical Services, Finance and Safety Health & Environment)

KEY RESULTS AREA

• Setting and meeting of safety and environmental requirements and targets;
• Developing & Implementation of operational strategies for the site;
• Ensuring that production targets for the site are achieved;
• Ensuring that financial targets for the site are achieved;
• Ensuring effective people management and development to enable improvements in the levels of employee engagement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety, Health & Environment:

• Provide safety and environmental leadership to promote a culture of zero harm. This includes having a commitment to demonstrate leadership in safety, health and the environment;
• Ensure the Safety, Health and Environment objectives are incorporated into all aspects of planning and work systems for the site;
• Establishing a proactive approach to identify and eliminate any Safety, Health and Environment hazards;
• Creating a culture which leads to work being conducted in accordance with the relevant Company Policies and statutory legislation relating to both the environment and occupational health and safety;
• Ensure that Safety, Health and Environment incidents are reported as required and that investigations are carried out in a timely manner with actions followed up and implemented;
• Demonstrating and instilling commitment to Safety, Health and Environment responsibility, sustainable development, Nyrstar's values, Nyrstar's Life Saving Rules and the Code of Business Conduct through the delivery of actions and initiatives;

Production:

• Develop, implement and continually monitor and review production strategies and targets and to make necessary changes to meet changing requirements;
• Develop business plans, annual budgets and Life of Mine plans utilizing reserves and resources ;
• Creating the desire within the Production departments meet and exceed KPI's, and identify key projects to allow improvements;
• Ensure that communication and delivery of commitments between departments and plant areas allows all areas of the site to perform well; and
• Ensure that production plans and schedules align with business requirements.

Financial

• Put into place the required financial planning processes;
• With the Finance Manager do business and financial forecasting;
• Ensures cost control and variance analysis is undertaken.

People Management:

• Ensures continual leadership development and strategic career planning is in place to identify and fill key roles and ensures smooth succession planning;
• Ensures that systems are in place for effective and timely performance feedback processes for all employees;
• Overall responsibility to manage and enhance performance of the teams, and dealing appropriately with managers and other staff who are not performing the required level of performance.

MAJOR OBJECTIVES AND STAKEHOLDERS

• Ensure that safety and environmental requirements and targets for the site are met;
• Ensure that operations strategies for the site is developed and implemented;
• Ensure that operational and financial targets for the site is achieved;
• Ensure that sound planning and processes are in place for the management of significant Capital to lead to those projects being successfully carried out and meeting budgets;
• Ensure effective people management and development to enable step improvements in the levels of employee engagement.
