THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to optimize processing of materials at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation by assisting experienced mill operators in various duties including:
  • General housekeeping - trash removal, sweeping, mopping, pressure washing, cleaning
  • Shoveling - shoveling rocks, gravel, fine material from ground/floor into various modes of transportation
  • Material lifting - lifting equipment from ground/floor to various heights and vice versa
  • Handling and loading - handling and loading equipment and materials into and out of packaging and vehicles
  • Fueling equipment - fueling motor vehicles, heaving equipment, and portable machines (both gasoline and diesel)
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES/TASKS:
Safety, Health, Environment and Community

  • Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
  • Comply with the site's standards and procedures in SHEC As well as MSHA regulations
  • Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards
  • Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations, and report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives, reviews and investigations
  • Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
  • Wears appropriate PPE at all times
  • Operations
  • Assist in ensuring the mill processing and maintenance activities are achieved to plan specifications
  • Support the Mill Shift Team Leader and General Mill Foreman to achieve positive growth and improvement of all work activities and performance standards
  • Have an awareness for recognizing and then suggesting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Any other duties as directed

People and Organization

  • Attend work in an punctual manner, fit for work, and that correct procedures are followed in cases where absences from work may occur
  • Maintain a sound relationship with Mill Shift Team Leader, coworkers, and other departments while working together

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in construction and/or using heavy equipment
  • Preferred knowledge of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
