SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER (Wilton, Redcar)

Are you a Mineral or Chemical Engineer with material handling experience?

Do you have strong technical experience in a process plant design or operational environment?

Have you gained experience with high-pressure grinding rolls or a granulation plant?

The Anglo American Woodsmith Ltd Project is a state-of-the-art underground mine which will be used to extract, polyhalite which is a unique multi-nutrient fertilizer. The project will be built with sustainable mining as a clear focus, using a low-energy, non-chemical production process and investing in metal and mineral of exceptional quality to ensure that it has a minimal impact on the environment.

CSG Talent are partnered with Anglo American Woodsmith Ltd as they look for a Senior Process Engineer to work within their Projects team. Reporting to the MHF Process Manager, you will play a key technical role in in developing, conducting, directing and interpreting trials on the Research & Development Facility to test and prove equipment and process parameters required for the Material Handling Facility.


What does this Senior Process Engineer role involve?


  • Review of process flow diagrams, mass balances, general arrangements, process & instrumentation diagrams, plant layouts, mechanical equipment and electrical equipment lists and their development in conjunction with the company's engineering, procurement & construction teams
  • Provide key Process input into HAZID and HAZOP studies and 3D engineering model reviews
  • Validating the selection and sizing of process equipment
  • Plan, direct and supervise test work at specialist laboratories, equipment vendors and the Company's own Research & Development Facility in support of engineering design and process optimisation
  • Support the owners engineer team in the delivery of detailed design of the materials handling plant
  • Contribute inputs into Capex and Opex models and carry-out cost-benefit and trade-off analyses
  • Undertake reviews of engineering outputs from consultants and other third parties
  • Work with the operations team to establish commissioning plans and operating procedures
  • Liaise with the project team and supports R&D construction phases or improvement modifications.
  • Review proposals, provide technical expertise to design and specify performance acceptance criteria
  • Provide technical direction in the resolution of problems associated with the design, engineering and construction of project phases or modifications.
  • Liaise with the technical development team and the operations team to support product development trials


Skills and experience


  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mineral Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar related subject
  • Experience in a process plant design or an operational environment
  • Mineral Industry, Engineering House or Consultancy background preferable
  • A proven track record in engineering and demonstrated commitment to delivering continuous improvement and effective solutions
  • Experience of High-Pressure Grinding Rolls or granulation plant would be an advantage
  • Previous experiences in large construction projects will be a benefit
