Description

Highly skilled electrical and/or instrument technician who applies a broad level of process and electrical knowledge to maximize and, where possible, improve the efficiency of the overall production process. These employees have met the qualifications of the company certification process. These workers mentor and train other workers.

  • The safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction
  • Performing preventative maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment)
  • Provide leadership in areas such as safety, environmental, mentoring of new employees and apprentices, cost control, project management, KPI tracking and measurement and proactive maintenance management processes
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance
  • Qualified under the company certification process
  • Valid state driver's license


Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Four-year electrical lineman apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used for construction, maintenance and repair of an overhead/underground transmission, distribution and substation electrical systems
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) and air break certification
  • Operates digger, bucket trucks, boom truck, hand tools near and around electrical distribution lines

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required

  • Must complete the pre-employment color perception as well as electrical/instrumentation assessment
  • Working weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime as business needs dictate
