The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a MINE OPERATOR 4 to join our Mine Operations team in Voisey’s Bay. This is a permanent position.

This permanent position is based at the Voisey’s Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is shift work, days/nights, on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation.

The primary role of the Mine Operator 4 is to operate mine heavy equipment and/or participate in drilling and blasting activities within the open pit mine.

In this position, you will:
  • Operate Haul Truck safely via hand signals, radio communication and using occupant safety devices;
  • Assist in maintenance activities around the pit including moving and installing dewatering pumps, installing and moving pipelines and road signage;
  • Inspect equipment and loads;
  • Ensure safety and road worthiness.

    About You
  • Completed a minimum grade 10 or equivalent;
  • 1000+ hours operating a CAT 777 Haul Truck or Completed academic requirements to achieve certification as a Level I Blaster under the NL Department of Education;
  • Minimum of 6 months of operating experience in an industrial mine setting;
  • Hold or be able to obtain a valid site driver’s license;
  • Preference may be given to candidates who are Heavy Equipment certified with 1000 operating hours;
  • Demonstrate concern for Safety, Health and Environment;
  • Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment;
  • Demonstrate initiative and follow instructions.
