Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Superintendent: OHS who can make a difference to site safety and be a key part of the Sustainable Development team.
Reporting to the Unit Manager: Sustainable Development, you will be required to provide quality OHS guidance and strong Leadership to a range of personnel. You will be responsible for managing all OHS activities with the objective of meeting high safety standards including maintaining Zero Fatalities and reducing Recordable Injuries.
This role is offered on an 5 days on 2 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the strong safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours program is supported and strengthened
- Demonstrate a good level of knowledge and understanding of underground & surface mining operations, haulage, mineral processing of precious metals and shared use infrastructure to enable the competent management of an occupational health and safety service
- Contribute to business improvement activities through the review, development and maintenance of relevant task instructions & procedures and conducting regular inspections to ensure consistent compliance of these within the department
- Lead and engage the team in the development of the departmental business plan, encouraging full participation and buy-in from team members and providing clear communication and understanding of department goals, targets and objectives, whilst ensuring full alignment with the business unit, strategic plan
- Provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for direct reports through effective use of the Performance Management System to provide regular, constructive feedback on performance, improve individual development and capability and enhance employee engagement, productivity and job satisfaction
- Develop and maintain appropriate accurate information systems that capture relevant departmental activity to identify key performance indicators
- Build consistency, professionalism and develop stakeholder trust in the department by coaching, mentoring and continually communicating in an appropriate manner to ensure their full understanding of their role and commitment to service delivery.
- Manage and support performance management for all reports. Ensure performance objectives and targets are SMART and deliver the expected outcomes.
Key factors to your success include:
- Tertiary degree in OHS or related discipline
- Extensive knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations
- At least 10 plus years of experience in OHS in an operational setting with a strong working knowledge of OHS, risk management, emergency response and injury management in the resources sector
- Collaboration as an integral member of a multifunctional management team, contributing to the generation and delivery of long and short term strategic requirements (including consideration of revenue, expenses, management of personnel)
- High level organizational and time management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced level in Microsoft Office applications
