Role Details

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Technical Services, you would be responsible for executing the mechanical, electrical & civil related projects to enhance current and meet anticipated project demand in alignment with Gold Fields standards, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislative and statutory requirements.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off, 4 days on 3 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times;
  • Demonstrate full compliance with the OHS and Environmental Management Systems' standards by assisting in the development of and participation in initiatives; toolbox meetings; investigations; training; and contributing to audits within the mine;
  • Evaluation studies for potential and identified projects including leading of scoping, feasibility and engineering studies that assist the company to achieve production targets through the timely completion of projects by demonstrating knowledge in interpreting & understanding of plans, drawings and schedules (MS Project), systematically working to achieve planned outcomes, assisting the team wherever necessary;
  • Project management of approved site capital projects utilising a formal project management framework that demonstrates strong and explicit safety leadership, plans, organises, monitors & controls all aspects of projects according to rank and delivers these to a defined standard;
  • Provide technology solutions to be included in trade-off and project evaluations to ensure that delivered projects are not only capital effective but have low maintenance costs and a high level of future integration;
  • Provide input into the strategic direction for the Projects functions at Granny Smith Gold Mine and within the Australasian region;
  • Oversee the appropriate utilisation of resources to maximise return on investment by reviewing contractor's performance, processes, methodologies and technologies used. Manage the activities of contractors in a cost-effective and efficient manner, ensuring that they are aware of performance targets, have the necessary tools to achieve these and that their activities are aligned with Company targets;
  • Ensure organisational capability by using relevant SAP reports or similar to monitor of reliability, availability and cost-effectiveness of all assets under control;
  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the Gold Field's Vision, Values and Code of Ethics. Actively promote Gold Field's policies, procedures and systems relating to your area of responsibility.


Key factors to your success include:
  • Qualifications in Project Management
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical);
  • Valid 'C' Class driver's licence;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role in mining (Underground) and mineral processing operations;
  • Demonstrated leadership, performance development experience in a multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Senior First Aid Certification is desirable.
