This Systems Integration Engineer position within the Electric Rope Shovel (ERS) Engineering team is responsible for coordinating and participating in the design and development of complex engineering projects related to machine development to ensure products provide superior customer value in comparison to the competition in terms of features, performance, durability, and quality with considerations of cost, manufacturing, velocity, and serviceability. This role is located in Tucson, AZ.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Alignment of component and system designs to achieve technical requirements
  • High expertise in rope shovel technical content and product applications
  • Communication and coordination of development efforts across functional organizations
  • Creation and management of product structure, center of gravity, weight and cost roll-ups
  • Work with Senior Engineering Project Team Lead and Configuration Engineer to develop robust solutions to satisfy customer and business requirements
  • Ensure each development team maintains project management plan
  • Facilitate updates as required to maintain accurate project plan
  • Management of product center of gravity and weight
  • Lead bi-monthly technical meeting with project team leads to discuss progress and promote collaboration
  • Communication and coordination of on-machine validation plan
  • Creation and management of virtual validation models (Dynasty, CLINK, TomSim)
  • Creation and management of APQP documentation (System Boundary Diagram, DFMEA, Requirements)
BASIC QUALITICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in an accredited Mechanical, Civil (Structural), or Electrical Engineering curriculum
  • 6+ years of product design experience
  • Project leadership experience with an emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks, strong technical leadership skills and the ability to understand and communicate systems technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers


TOP CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE:

  • Electric Rope Shovel product experience
  • Mining equipment experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Creo and TeamCenter
  • Proficiency in virtual validation modeling software (i.e. Dynasty, CLINK, TomSim)
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar processes (i.e. NPI, APQP, CPI)
