Civil 3D / CAD Designer - Vancouver, Canada

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Civil 3D / CAD Designer.

Description of Responsibilities:

You will be working with the SRK North American GeoEnvironmenal group that focuses primarily on mine infrastructure, mine waste management (dams), and mine closure projects. You will work collaboratively within a team of technical specialists to develop innovative, practical, cost effective solutions for a diverse set of global projects and clients.

We need you to:

• Provide technical and design support for engineering studies and earthworks construction.
• Be responsible for modelling 3D designs and layouts.
• Perform volumetric calculations and quantity estimates.
• Produce figures and drawings ranging from conceptual models and sketches to detailed design and construction drawings.

Essential Requirements:

You have:

• An enthusiastic attitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail.

• Motivation to learn, ask questions, improve process, and improve existing tools and methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams ranging from junior to managing level engineers and scientists.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to produce high-quality designs and drawings for our clients.
• Time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
• A diploma or degree from an accredited drafting, surveying, or engineering program.
• Flexibility to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Knowledge in some of the following:

• Autodesk Infraworks
• ArcGIS
• Global Mapper
• PointCloud and LiDAR processing
• Microsoft Office
• Adobe Illustrate
• Photoshop
• Muck3D
• Autodesk Vault

• Prior experience in earthworks or mining (asset but is not essential).
• Prior experience with the following Civil 3D features:

• Grading objects
• Surface creation
• Isopachs (volume surfaces)
• Corridors and alignments
• Material quantity takeoffs
• Stage capacity curve generation

• An interest in exploring different ways of improving data and design visualizations, and / or working with motion graphics.
