Reporting to the Senior Manager Mining, you will provide leadership and management support to the Mine Operations Planning Team to ensure all mine plans and strategic business objectives are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective and timely manner.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the team responsible for safely delivering mine planning, drill and blast planning, and survey services, to enable execution of the Departmental Business Plan
  • Provide leadership and direction to your team to ensure the safest and most efficient mining operations to achieve production targets
  • Integrate plans from other departments into short term mine plans and schedules for execution by the operations teams
  • Coordinate the preparation and production of short term mine plans, drill and blast planning, Monthly and Weekly Schedules, and all Mining Engineering designs and plans to enable execution of these schedules
  • Ensure the provision of survey control, and the integration of survey activity into the mining schedules
  • Act as the primary liaison with the Technical Services Department to ensure an effective conduit for addressing Geotechnical, Ore Control, Infrastructure and Long Term Planning issues
  • Ensure compliance to operational budget through effective cost management and contribution to the business planning process
  • Manage the professional development, training requirements and performance management of team members
  • Promote, participate in or lead Full Potential projects as required including staying up to date on industry innovations and best practice initiatives
  • Management of department business partners including obtaining required documentation, inductions, performance monitoring and records management
  • Ensuring all communications contribute to safe and harmonious working relationships and information is conveyed in a timely manner and in a format that is understood
  • Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety and health of other people through any act or omission at work
  • Engage and manage contractors within the team to meet specific technical or ad-hoc labour needs
  • Maintain documents associated with the team
  • Act as the Mining Operations delegate for the Manager Mining Operations as required
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership and espouse the Newmont Values at all times

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Tertiary Degree in related Mining, Technology, Management or Engineering discipline
  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or equivalent desirable

You will have significant previous experience in supervisory or leadership roles in large open pit mining operations and competent in computer operation and planning software applications.

Your demonstrable experience in management of teams, effective and proficient communication skills and the ability to prioritise and succeed in an environment of competing priorities will be a requisite for this position. You will be adept at influencing and liaising with all levels of the organisation, a confident communicator and able to influence and encourage others.
