Description

Under general supervision, contribute and lead a team to perform any phase of underground mine design, mine planning or other support functions within appropriate time and cost.

- Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects

- Lead projects and contribute mine planning expertise on large/complex site planning/construction and expansion or modifications for base metal and underground hard rock mine locations.

- Contribute to site strategic planning, scheduling, budgeting efforts using software such as MineSight, Deswik or other scheduling and mine planning software

- Conduct short and long range strategic mine planning to include cost determination, pit optimization, mine method selection, mine design, mine scheduling, ventilation design and planning, infrastructure design, equipment fleet requirements, drill and blast design, and economic analysis

- Develop and evaluate AFE's (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests

- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to front-line and/or technical employees

- May supervise front-line and/or technical employees

- Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment

- Evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

- Represent the site on company sponsored events

- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Mine Engineering discipline or related engineering discipline and five (5) years of related experience in Engineering or a related field; OR - Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering or related field

- Hands-on experience within the last five (5) years using the principles and practices of Mine Engineering with at least two (2) typical mine functions (long or short-range planning, ore control, dispatch, Geomechanical control, project management or supervision)

- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering

- Proficient in current Mine Engineering software (MinePlanning, Dispatch, etc.)

- Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions

- Ability to conduct a financial, economic, and cost analysis

- Skill in effective communication both verbally and in written form

- Ability to learn new tasks

- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

- Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Preferred Qualifications

- Mine scheduling experience, ideally with Deswik® or related software
- Underground Mine design experience, ideally with Deswik
- Integrating underground mine design, schedules and costs as part of project controls
- Mine ventilation modeling (ideally with Ventsim®) or other software
- Exposure to block/panel cave mining methods and underground stoping

- Able and willing to travel internationally, specifically to West Papua, Indonesia
