Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist, the Project Geologist will assure the proper execution of the surface regional exploration programs and will supervise the work of contractors and employees under their responsibility.


  • Evaluation and interpretation of detailed- to regional-scale geology to identify and prioritize exploration opportunities.
  • Collection, compilation, data management, and interpretation of geological information from exploration programs including diamond drilling, mapping, geophysics, and surface sampling, etc..
  • Drill core logging and field mapping.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain geological databases.
  • Contribute to exploration work programs and strategic exploration planning.
  • Supervise contractors and any other persons placed under their responsibility.
  • Complies by and enforces the health and safety standards and policies of the company.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship for members of the team.
  • All other tasks related to the regional exploration programs in the Island Gold Mine area as required by their supervisor.


  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science; Post-graduate degree, an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mineral exploration.
  • Solid knowledge of orogenic gold deposit models.
  • Regional-scale targeting and exploration experience in Archean greenstone belts.
  • An excellent understanding of geological settings, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as it pertains to the latest concepts of gold deposit environments.
  • An ability to think across-scales and to integrate diverse, large datasets.
  • Experience in managing field mapping and diamond drilling programs.
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community.
  • Shown to be self-motivated and possesses leadership abilities.
  • Ability to perform and communicate effectively within a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Proficient with Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and SQL databases.
  • Registered as a Professional Geologist (P.Geo) desirable.
  • Ability to work outside in varying temperatures (year-round) and manipulate core boxes that can weigh 40-50 pounds.
