ABOUT THE THEP:

The Trail Area Health & Environment Program is a community program promoting health and the environment in the Trail BC area.  Our focus is on promoting children's healthy development and preventing lead exposure. We work with families and residents, offering a comprehensive program of supports and up-to-date information.  With over 25 years’ experience, our program has greatly improved air quality and reduced lead exposure in children through various programs including Family Health, Air Quality and Home & Garden. Our collaborative approach has been recognized with a BC Premier’s Award. The SNC-Lavalin office in Trail delivers the Home and Garden portion of the THEP including soil assessment, soil remediation, the Healthy Homes, and Lead-safe Renovation support programs. The THEP Home & Garden Program is delivered by SNC-Lavalin out of the Community Program Office.

How will you contribute to the team?

The main tasks of the Administrative Assistant for the Community Program Office include:
  • Support the work of the Home & Garden program and other occasionally other aspects of the THEP (e.g. Family Health)
  • Answering phone calls, emails and handling walk-ins
  • Responding to or directing questions to the team from the public
  • Internal communications and facilitating timely and accurate responses to inquires about the THEP
  • In-take of lead-safe renovation requests
  • Electronic data filing as per SNC’s Quality Management System
  • Database tracking, scanning and filing
  • Data entry
  • Report generation and mailing
  • General office administration – office supply ordering, coordinating office maintenance, etc.
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliation
  • Meeting preparation, printing, creating meeting packages
  • Participation in SNC Lavalin’s safety and integrity programs and assist with routine office safety procedures


What will you contribute?

  • 1-2 years of general office administration experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have some formal training in office administration and/or information management
  • Strong written and computer skills with experience working in MS Word, Excel and Office 365
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Database knowledge (such as MS Access) would be a significant asset
  • Knowledge of home-renovation would be an asset
  • A local resident is preferred and/or someone with community navigator training
