When you join Team Caterpillar as an Engineering Specialist on the Drivetrain Structures, Casting, Forging (SCF) Team you will design, guide and facilitate the development of Cat Drivetrain Structural, Cast, Forged and Bolted Joint components. The SCF team works to develop collaborative and inspirational relationships among themselves, as well as with customers, suppliers and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. You will be part of an organizational climate and culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement, commitment and a sense of urgency towards business success. On the SCF team you will be supporting the majority of the Cat wheeled and tracked machine product used by customers around the world. You will also be engaging with multiple Drivetrain manufacturing facilities around the world. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, collaborate, mentor and coach your team members, and deepen your professional network.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* SCF Project Team lead for CI (MG, SWL/MWL,TTT) related NPI, CPI, cost reduction and maintenance related projects.

* Support sourcing strategy initiatives to identify and develop a worldwide rough material and finish machining supply matrix for the Drivetrain SCF team.

* Engagement with SCF team staff to manage the team's overall workload and balance your and other team members workloads while meeting project due dates

* CPPD and Collaboration with our downstream supplier partners, Global Supply Network (GSN), Supply Chain (SC), and Internal Operations (Ops), on new and in-flight projects.

* Coach, mentor and educate your fellow team members to improve their technical competence and support development of their subject matter expertise.

* Foster collaborative relationships within the SCF team, promote collaboration within the Drivetrain team, our suppliers, component teams and MBD partners.

* Design, development and validation leadership for Structural, Cast and Forged components including aluminum/iron/steel castings, forgings, fabrications and bolted joints.

* Application of advanced structural analysis techniques such as non-linear FEA, fracture mechanics based analysis and component life prediction.

Basic Qualifications:

* Mechanical, Agricultural, Aerospace or Civil Engineering Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum

* 10+ years Caterpillar experience with prior success in Structural, FEA, and bolted joint analysis assignments

* Knowledge of Caterpillar Product Development process including experience with NPI, CPI, FMEA, Teamcenter, HVC, and EDS

* Experience working with Caterpillar cost reduction, purchasing and product cost systems

* Experience in Concept, Design, Analysis, Detailing and Validation of L1 - L3 Component/Machine systems

* Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc

* Proficient in CREO

* Demonstrated leadership skills with excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills

* Strong work ethic, initiative and analytical skills

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

* Master's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural. Aerospace or Civil Engineering from an accredited Engineering curriculum

* Experience with internal CICT and EPC Cost Systems

* Understanding of approval processes for supplier tooling (TDF, eRFT) and capital management system

* Experience with Design and Validation of Large Structures and/or Fabrications

* Machine operation or validation experience, internal or external to Caterpillar

* Demonstrated business management skills

* Familiarity with virtual product development tools

* Experience with non-traditional structural materials and joining methods

* The location for this position is East Peoria, IL Bldg KK

* This position may require up to 10% travel
