Reporting to the Finance Superintendent, the Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for the analysis and reporting of key financial data. This will involve working closely with all members of the management team to assist them in better understanding their costs and cost drivers and assist them in the identification of cost reduction opportunities. In addition, the Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for the Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast process, ensuring that budgets and forecasts are prepared within company guidelines and those deadlines are met. This will again involve regular liaison with all departments and requires a thorough understanding of all mine operations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Preparation and detailed analysis of monthly financial reports and variance analysis by departments, liaising closely with Departmental Managers to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Development and continuous improvement of internal controls & management reporting systems across all activities
  • Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts - involving on-going liaison with all Departmental Managers and ensuring that the budget and forecasts are prepared in compliance with company guidelines and within corporate deadlines
  • Actively participate in the month-end accounting procedures, ensuring that all processes are completed in accordance with Group policies and deadlines
  • Participation in periodic audit and other statutory/group reporting functions
  • Develop and maintain appropriate diesel fuel/fuel tax credit systems to ensure appropriate claims are lodged on a timely basis
  • Preparation of valuation of inventories including stockpiles and work in progress
  • Preparation of deferred stripping model and recording minimum tenement expenditure
  • Preparation of month end reporting requirements including accruals and reconciliation of mine production physicals
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Departmental Managers, and their key personnel on site plus FQM global finance team
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as required
  • Carry out other financial/accounting duties as directed by the Finance Superintendent
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting/finance.
  • Membership of a professional accounting body (ICAA/CPA).
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years relevant mining/financial experience.
  • High-level communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Experience with Pronto and Hyperion (HFM) software will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
  • Experience with modeling in the mining industry will be highly regarded.
