JOB DUTIES:

  • Drive the delivery of operational project plans to meet scope, time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
  • Determine risks to the delivery of the Operations Readiness program.  Build the risk management process into Operational Readiness plans for Mining, Processing, Maintenance, service and support functions.
  • Ensure implementation teams are trained, equipped, competent and ready to run a new facility
  • Develop and maintain processes to integrate Operational Readiness planning and reporting across multiple site functions and through the project phases of Construction, Commissioning and Ramp-Up.
  • Ensure required interfaces are in place between Project and Operations at each level for effective system commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate the Operational Readiness Support from other corporate functions, OEMs and consultants.
  • Perform other tasks set by the Line Manager within his/her competency.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • 20 years of experience in the Mining/Resources industry
  • At least 10 years’ experience in leadership positions
  • Additional business study qualifications (eg.MBA) preferred
  • Experience in line management roles in the mining industry
  • Experience in the operations management, commissioning and ramp-up of copper concentrator operations.
  • High level processing operations or equivalent skills in analysis and optimization
  • Skilled in building integrated plans and developing a continuous process improvement culture
  • Able to work independently and provide expert advice
  • Ability to plan and integrate multiple activities across many stakeholders
  • Ability to foresee and identify problems and define possible solutions, taking into account related risks
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining sound judgement
  • Ability to build solid work relationships with main key stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of best practices for operations management and operational readiness
  • Ability to coach/mentor National staff
  • Understanding of asset management and effective maintenance planning and execution
  • Driver’s License (B category).

Employees

  • Take time to identify any hazards associated with their work and the required controls for safe work;
  • If unsure about hazards and controls, to stop and ask for help;
  • Look out for the safety of other workers and intervene if HSE risks appear unacceptable;
  • Report all incidents and near misses to your supervisor;
  • Ensure that the equipment to be used is in good order and is fit-for-purpose.

Managers

  • Have the additional responsibility of being accountable for the safety of all the people you supervise.
  • Ensure the reporting team:
  • Are fit for work;
  • Have the skills, knowledge, experience and temperament required to work safely;
  • Understand the required outcomes in terms of quantity, quality and timeframe;
  • Understand the hazards associated with the task, and their potential consequences;
  • Understand, and agree to apply, the procedures or other controls that are needed to manage the hazards;
  • Make sure, the equipment in use in operational and can be used as intended.
  • Ensure that the equipment to be used is in good order and is fit-for-purpose;

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employees

  • Be committed to your work;
  • Follow Company and Group policies and procedures;
  • Adhere to anti-corruption and bribery policies;
  • Inform your Manager if you are not capable to accomplish work for any reason;
  • Advise your manager of obstacles to getting your work done;
  • Inform your manager if you do not have sufficient time to get it done.

Managers

  • Ensure each of your subordinates fully understands their assigned tasks;
  • Build and sustain a team of subordinates capable of producing the outputs required;
  • Only accept the appointment of a subordinate if he/she is capable to fill the role;
  • Continually review the personal effectiveness in role of each subordinate;
  • Where appropriate, initiate the removal from role of a subordinate who does not perform the role effectively.
