About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Carbon Maintenance to lead and develop an operational team that are accountable for the Carbon Products Department plant at our New Zealand Aluminium Smelter.

This role is a great opportunity for a strong leader who has the ability to coach, support and mentor the Carbon Maintenance team. Key focus areas include; safety, reliability, cost management and improving plant performance.

Working day shift, Monday to Friday and reporting through to the Manager Carbon you will be:
  • Mentoring and developing a diverse team accountable for achieving safety, environmental and maintenance objectives;
  • Contributing to updating maintenance tactics and strategies in conjunction with reliability engineering;
  • Planning and scheduling major maintenance work on site and collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure everybody is aligned;
  • Supporting the NZAS Management team in achieving the effective execution of all maintenance functions with a continuous improvement mindset;
  • Governance of the department annual maintenance budget planning processes and reporting;
  • Managing the coordination of capital projects;
  • Responsible for delivering and meeting the KPI metrics that have been set for the Carbon plant;

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Frontline Management and Leadership experience
  • Engineering or equivalent trade qualification
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance teams & budgets
  • Ability to engage stakeholders across multiple departments

It would also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in leading maintenance planning and scheduling teams beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with improvement processes, such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Life cycle cost modelling (LCCM) and spares analysis
  • Working knowledge of business improvement tools (such as 6 Sigma, process improvement and change management methodologies)
  • Working knowledge of SAP
