We are looking for a Superintendent Community Engagement, to develop and maintain positive community relationships, support stakeholder priorities and lead engagement activities in Paraburdoo, Tom Price and surrounding communities.

This is a great opportunity for an engaging people leader to join our Community Engagement team. The Community Engagement function supports the development, implementation and maintenance of relationships between Rio Tinto and key local stakeholders, including local and state government, privately owned pastoral stations, community partners and community groups.

About you

A passion for leading and developing teams, coupled with your demonstrated ability to engage, connect and positively influence key stakeholders at all organizational levels; will enable you to effectively lead the implementationof social performance strategies, plans and programs which support thecompany's social and legal licence to operate and the ability to meet business objectives.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification within a relevant field such as community development, sociology, anthropology
  • Extensive experience in community engagement or community relations including experience ingovernment relations, community development and local communications
  • Leadership experience and confidencein effectively leading, mentoring and coachingteam members
  • Sound knowledge of the resource sector in terms of sustainable development principles and practices
  • Experience in project management

The role is residentially based in Tom Price and if you're not already based in town, we will support the move in every way we can. We offer a comprehensive relocation service and our housing subsidy is fantastic.

Located in the central Pilbara, Tom Price is a family-friendly and modern fully-serviced town designed to complement the region's natural environment. It's known as one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a supermarket, primary and secondary schools, hospital and high standard of recreation and child care facilities. Regular in-town events and activities include the popular Mount Nameless Jarndunmunha Festival, drive-in cinemas, local fairs and team sport competitions; in addition to being home to one of the largest open cut mines in the world. It offers an ideal base to explore the natural wonders of the Karijini and Millstream Chichester National Parks or travel to beautiful coastal towns over a long weekend.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team(standard for all job adverts)
  • Extensive experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Community Relations or Community Development in a similar role (essential)
  • Experience managing complex multi stakeholder plans and projects
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Experience with risk identification and management
