Our client
Our client is one of the world's top 10 copper producers, exporting millions of tonnes of concentrate from multiple countries to customers worldwide. They also produce nickel, gold and cobalt.
Ramp-up of their nickel mine in Western Australia has created an opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join their expanding technical team.
The role
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be part of the client's technical team. Tasked with developing, executing and achieving the short (weekly) to medium term production plan and relevant analysis and reporting.
In this role you will coordinate the scheduling functions, in close coordination with the Mining Contractor, so you a key outcome is to ensure that the planning and conformance procedures are in place to enable the site to achieve its production objectives.
You will also coordinate the drill and blast design and drill scheduling and ensure mine designs are delivered to meet operational requirements.

About you
You will:
- Have a minimum of 8-10 years post graduate experience gained within a mining environment
- Have demonstrated experience in operational and process improvement
- Display a high level of initiative and possess a good work ethic
- Have demonstrated competency in short - medium term planning and aptitude for interrogating plan output data
- Have demonstrated competency with mining software packages (Deswik experience desired)
- Have the ability to build and manage contractor relationships (essential)
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability and confidence to liaise with stakeholders across the business and work with them on diverse issues.
