Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Chemical Technician is responsible for providing assay testing on concentrate and ore samples in an efficient and safe manner.
The recipe for success in this role is someone who can work well with a team, but empower themselves as an individual. Due to the importance of this work, accuracy and efficiency are extremely important. You are able to multi-task, stay organized, prioritize your work, and manage the handling of samples up to 25kg to keep the process moving efficiently. Since you will be engaging multiple partners across our site strong communication and interpersonal skills will be vital.
This opportunity works a 4x4 days and nights schedule, and comes with an attractive benefits package and hourly rate of pay as reflected in the Collective Agreement. You will be a key contributor to our operations and our success.
Join us in Logan Lake and enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities, such as hiking, skiing, fishing, and golf! The mine site is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, B.C. which provides all of the comforts of city living. We are also close to Merritt and Ashcroft, which exude small town community atmospheres.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Use your knowledge of WHMIS standards for lab safety to ensure the safe operation of the lab
- Complete regular data entry into Excel spreadsheets
- Physical preparation of samples involving crushing, pulverizing, splitting and mixing of mine and mill samples
- Complete classical and instrumental analysis for copper, molybdenum, iron, and arsenic on samples
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Chemical or Environmental Technology diploma or degree with relevant subjects, or equivalent education in a relevant field
- Minimum three years related laboratory experience
- Familiar with AAS, ICP-OES, and LECO instruments and techniques
- Proven experience working safely with strong acids to digest mineralogical samples for assay
- Proven experience with the physical preparation and weighing of samples
- Valid BC driver’s license or equivalent
