Reporting to the Superintendent, Health and Safety, the Safety Coordinator, Health and Safety, acts as a resource to business areas to ensure safe execution of work and a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Contribute to the maintenance of a safe workplace by regularly inspecting work areas, reporting on practices and conditions found and following up on issues identified including advising and supporting management in implementing and maintaining safe working practices
• Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance
• Lead or assist in carrying out incident investigations to identify corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Provide recommendations and direction on the development and management of effective health and safety programs
• Prepare routine written reports as directed and ad-hoc special reports on safety performance problems, as circumstances dictate
• Provide coaching, mentoring, communication and support to all of Trail Operations to create and maintain a safe workplace
• Develop and present safety specific training to groups of workers and management staff
• Apply continuous improvement processes and systems to improve Health & Safety performance at Trail Operations
• Carry out Health and Safety audits as part of the internal auditing program

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership in and passion for health and safety
• College Diploma or University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, relevant academic background or equivalent years of relevant industrial experience
• Must have at least 3 years of Health and Safety work experience in a similar heavy industry environment
• Highly organized, detail oriented with strong analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office
• Shutdown or Turnaround experience is an asset
• CRSP designation or currently pursuing is an asset
