We are currently seeking a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to work with the Fire Safety Group in our Mississauga office. If you are a strongly driven individual, highly organized, patient, and an independent thinker, we want to hear from you. Working closely with our project management, clients, and engineers, your primary role will be to act as the main technical resource on fire safety. The position will require you to constantly develop your expertise to facilitate customized, out-of-the-box, fire safety solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting fire risk analysis, code compliance assessments and conceptual fire safety designs.
  • Responsible for leading and executing a fire safety project from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for advocating and promoting fire safety in all projects.
  • Strengthen reputation and business development by adhering to a higher level of quality on deliverables while balancing project costs.
  • Mentoring 1-2 junior engineers on a continuous basis.
  • Responsible for providing services across several sectors including mining, power, nuclear, thermal, infrastructure and industrial.


Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering registration in the Province of Ontario, or a reciprocal jurisdiction
  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical engineering is required.
  • A Master’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering is considered a strong asset.
  • 8+ years of experience in one of the following disciplines;
  • Fire and building code consulting,
  • Fire/explosion analysis and modeling,
  • Fire system design or similar fire engineering activities is a strong asset
  • Studies in fire sciences can be credited in lieu of experience.
  • Aptitude towards alternative compliance approaches, and thinking “outside the box”
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and provincial building and fire codes and NFPA standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's/Master’s degree in either Fire Engineering or Fire Sciences is preferred
