Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance, the Mechanical Engineer-in-Training is responsible for providing engineering assistance to maintenance, project management, and reliability functions in order to maximize the efficiency and utilization of the mobile mining equipment fleets and site facilities. This function will include feasibility studies for replacement, acquirement, and installation of new equipment and technology.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with outstanding problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. Someone who is a motivated self-starter, organized, and able to prioritize contending demands in a fast paced team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Apply engineering principles concerning the safeguarding of life, health, property, economic interests, public welfare, and the environment
  • Participate in the development of an effective maintenance program by providing timely and accurate data analysis based on sound engineering practices
  • Assess and understand condition-based data for equipment in applicable asset areas (fluid analysis, real time data monitoring)
  • Support maintenance strategy optimization and maintenance process improvements
  • Complete root cause failure analysis
  • Identify and pitch improvement opportunities to achieve site objectives
  • Spearhead work reduction and maintenance efficiency improvement initiatives ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Manage specific capital and operational projects within the maintenance department, taking into consideration material requirements, timing, economic justification, and budget constraints
  • Contribute to an environmentally sound mining operation by adhering to mine site environmental policies and procedures


Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field
  • Eligible for, or working towards, registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Minimum three years demonstrated ability working in an industrial setting
  • Experience with mobile equipment mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong digital literacy and proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite® and 3D modelling software
