Senior Instrumentation & Process Control Engineer
Work Location: East Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
Based in the Fortescue Hive, the Senior Process Control engineers are part of a multidiscipline function who's scope is to improve efficiency and drive performance in the fixed plant assets. Working closely with other disciplines the Process Control team leverage their knowledge and experience to develop technology solutions for high-impact opportunities that are replicable, scalable and based on an integrated view of the value chain. The role is principally focused on step-change improvement however, does also provide support to the operational control function in the Hive as necessary.

Key Accountabilities:
- Zero Harm - Anticipate & proactively resolve potential problems within the Control Systems to ensure Zero Harm environment.
- Lead plant optimisation projects to improve productivity, safety and reduce risk across Mines and Port.
- Take advantage of the integrated operating centre to benchmark sites and identify improvement opportunities within the control systems space.
- Replicate successful initiatives across different sites centrally from the operating centre.
- Use data to identify improvement opportunities and quantify their value.
- Collaborate with site-based teams.
- Assist defining and implementing just enough process control system standardisation and governance.
- Lead the upgrade of control systems assets where it makes sense and their life cycle.
- Assist with projects that involve control system and operational technology such as integrate new instrument or equipment, strengthen and improve existing process control environment and network security.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Current Drivers Licence (C Class)
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic/Computer Engineering Degree
- Substantial experience in the mining/material handling/processing industry
- Experience with control system software and programming (GE Machine Edition, Cimplicity SCADA, Schneider Unity Pro) (Essential)
- Experience with Industrial communication protocol (Profibus, Profinet, EGD, Modbus) (Essential)
- Experience with data analysis, SQL and C# (Desirable)
- Experience with VSD drives (ABB, WEG and Siemens) (Desirable)
