Mine Controller - 12 month fixed term contract

Work Location: Perth

Roster: 4D/4N/8R

Reporting to the Mine Control Supervisor, the Mine Controller is accountable for the interaction with Mine Site Operations in supporting the decision making process of the Caterpillar Minestar System and cost reduction initiatives in line with site KPI's. The Mine Controller will also provide leadership and direction to the various equipment operators to ensure that the business and mine plan objectives are met and consistently achieved, according to the HSE policies.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensure 100% compliance of the 24 hour production plan
  • Provide leadership and direction to the various equipment operators to ensure that the business and mine plan objectives are met and consistently achieved, according to the HSE policies
  • Minimize hang time on dig machines and queued time on trucks to achieve KPIs
  • Ensure the integrity of the mine model (road network, locations, equipment etc.) report any mine model issues to the Minestar builder
  • Ensure accurate, statistical information is captured and recorded by the system
  • Liaise with shift Supervisor and Engineers to minimize production and maintenance delays
  • Provide an essential service communication link between production, maintenance, planning, OPF and the operations employees
  • Ensure a smooth transition from off-going shift to current shift, and then from current shift to oncoming shift

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Previous heavy equipment operations experience of 2 years is required
  • Minimum completion of year 10 at secondary school
  • Knowledge of mine workplace safety requirements and procedure
  • Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions
  • Good interpersonal skills; Determined; Decisive; Enthusiastic; Honest
