POSITION OVERVIEW
Mechanically troubleshoot, maintain and repair components on production electric Shovels, electric / diesel Drills and other mining support equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Carryout preventative maintenance on electric Shovels and electric / diesel Drills.
•Carryout repairs on electric Shovels and electric / diesel Drills which include major component replacement and repair or rebuild.
•Preventative maintenance and repair on forklifts and boom trucks.
•Maintain other pieces of support equipment.
•Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Demonstrate proficiency in Mechanics, Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Electrical 12/24 volt DC systems.
•Demonstrate proficiency with an Arc Welding, Wire Feed and Cutting Torch.
•Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50+ pounds.
•Ability to climb long ladders / steps.
•Ability to work in cramped / confined areas.
•Ability to work rotating day/night shifts (24/7/365 operation).
•Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
•Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form
•Ability to work in adverse climate / temperature environments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requirements for 2nd Class:
•HS Diploma or GED
•Minimum 1-1/2 years experience maintaining mining equipment
•Or, similar rating from trade school - certification.
Requirements for 1st Class:
•HS Diploma or GED
•Minimum 3 years experience maintaining mining equipment
•Or, trade school certification with 1-1/2 years experience
