Introduction to Bisha Mining Share Company

BMSC is an Eritrean company formed for the development and operation of the Bisha Mine in western Eritrea, Africa.  The Bisha Mine is a high-grade copper, gold, silver and zinc mine that commenced production in February 2011. The Bisha Mine has received continuous support from the Eritrean government, who granted the Company's mining license in January 2008. The project is the first modern mine in Eritrea.   

After two years of low cost gold production, the Bisha Mine transitioned to low-cost, high-grade copper production in 2013.  Starting in 2016, Bisha also produces zinc concentrate. Further resource potential exists at depth and from nearby discoveries within the Company's licensed areas.

The site is a well-established site with excellent catering and recreational facilities. The site also offers Wi-Fi internet coverage throughout the village as well international TV and a full gymnasium. Security ranks with best in the world and employees mountain bike freely.  Expatriates work a roster of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off; we offer on-site medical services as well as company medical, accident death and disability and life insurance (employee only); Employees are provided with private rooms with en-suite toilet and shower facilities; Working hours at Bisha are Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm with a one hour lunch break and Sundays from 6am to 12pm with the afternoon off.

The successful candidate will earn a salary which is market related. Contract is for a period of 02 (two) Years.

Primary Purpose

  • Direct supervision of the rebuilds MC component and HME machine parts.

Main Functions

  • The Supervisor will be responsible for maintenance activities on tools and equipment, including performing pre-op inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance tasks when appropriate, along with the accompanying reporting.

Task description expanded to core performance areas

  • Assisting the Snr. Quality Supervisor in forecasting and planning of maintenance and repairs of MC of HME machinery as FD’s, Diesel engines, transmission, TC, differential and other HME components.
  • Ensuring safety requirements are fulfilled at the work place, including leading Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) and proper use of appropriate PPE.
  • Collecting Planned Maintenance Schedule from Planning office and distributing work to the crew  members.
  • Identifying high priority tasks for each day and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Conducting checks to ensure maintenance and repair of equipment is carried out in an efficient and effective manner in order to minimise unplanned downtime.
  • Ensuring that all Section personnel have job relevant training requirements to carry out tasks assigned to them.
  • Ensuring that the necessary maintenance parts and materials are always available by conducting regular stock checks and advising the Planning Section of movements in stock levels.
  • Compiling daily progress reports for the Section as well as suggestions brought up by the Technicians and other Section operatives.
  • Preparing equipment maintenance reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Instructing subordinates in proper work methods and standards; monitoring crew work quality; insuring adherence to time schedules and safe work practices, provide performance feedback and input into performance reviews.
  • Leading the crew and participating in performing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks (hands-on-leader).
  • Assisting the Snr. Quality Supervisor in conducting performance evaluations of crew members.
  • Working with the Snr. Quality Supervisor to identify manpower needs within the Section; identifying opportunities for crew members to learn new Technologies.
  • Supporting and enforcing the National Artisan Training program conducted by the HME and Training and Development Departments.
  • Ensuring safety requirements are fulfilled at the work place, including leading Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) and proper use of appropriate PPE.   

Unique Requirements/ Other Information

  • Candidate must be physically fit.
  • Candidate must be able to work under severe conditions such as heat, wind and dusty environments.
  • Candidate must be able to work at heights (various kinds of HME machines).

  Qualifications:

  • Minimum Technician Certificate in Diesel Mechanic.

 Knowledge and Experience:

  • 8 - 10 years with HME Maintenance and repair in a mining environment.

  • Preferable previous experience on rebuild major component of HME machines CATERPILLAR and other brands.
