Your ability to learn quickly and think critically will be a key asset as you become familiar with Hatch and help advance our industry-leading tunnel and underground infrastructure group.

Your responsibilities:

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Lead structural design teams in the analysis and design of tunnels and underground infrastructure including preparation of calculation and drawing packages

  • Provide direct input to the development and assessment of preliminary design options
  • Manage production of structural drawings and implement all QA/QC requirements
  • Develop and review structural technical reports and memoranda
  • Prepare design, tender and contract documents, and prepare proposals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams including geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, architects, planners etc. to ensure all requirements are understood and accounted for in the overall design
  • Manage client relations including attendance at meetings, responding to inquiries and preparing proposals
  • Liaise with project stakeholders including local governments, transit authorities, regulatory and approval agencies, contractors and suppliers
  • Provide leadership and be a self-starter
  • Deliver quality service to our clients and communities served

You bring to the role:

  • Structural or Civil Engineering degree, from an accredited university. Graduate degree(s) in structural engineering would be considered a definite asset
  • Professional Engineer with the P.Eng. designation in Ontario (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and construction of tunnels and underground infrastructure with an emphasis on structural design, analysis and modelling including ground-structure and seismic analysis and modelling
  • Experience and fluency with advanced structural and ground-structure modelling software
  • Experience with local and international design codes and standards. Hatch is a global company and your projects will be located in a number of different countries
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office is mandatory. Experience with industry standard design and analysis software including CADD is preferred
  • Experience with a variety of project delivery approaches including Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build and a variety of project funding arrangements including P3
