ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, the Civil Lead works in close collaboration with his/her team members, as well as members of the other departments of the division. The incumbent ensures that Engineering activities are developed and conducted in accordance with the company standards. He/she plays an important role in the construction activities' follow-up at the Meliadine site. The Civil Lead ensures goals and objectives are attained, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, with the assistance of the General Supervisor, the contractor's activities, insuring good coordination between different disciplines' contracts and the work sequences;
  • Lead all contract change notices to insure minimum impact on budget and schedule;
  • Lead a weekly coordination meeting for each contract under his/her disciplines;
  • Provide support to the General Supervisor by providing clear guidance and information to accomplish their daily field activities;
  • Follow project scope of work, budget, schedule and quality;
  • Perform a systematic risks analysis system on activities that are ongoing by putting in place strategic action plans to avoid or minimize negative impacts on the global project;
  • Lead, with the assistance of the engineering team, the different consultants working on the development of the engineering aspects of the project;
  • Lead, with AEM management, the construction activities sequence, contractor's follow-up, and track changes to the contracts, collaborating with the other project departments to control the different activities;
  • Lead, with AEM management, the problem-solving for each phase of the project;
  • Ensure that the information develop ed during the engineering phase is transfe rred to the construction site with the discipline lead direct report working at site;
  • Support the management team in the transition between the various project phases (engineering to construction, and construction to operation);
  • Identify engineering deliverables that address the project scope of work;
  • Create, maintain, review and manage construction schedules and plans;
  • Liaise with the Construction Manager, leads and engineers to discuss and monitor the progress of the project and address any issues that arise;
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to organize the phases of the construction development;
  • Keep the project control team up to date on progress to present field activities;
  • Present information for internal meetings on the project;
  • Assist the Procurement Department in preparing Scopes of Work (SOW) and Technical Specifications as required for various construction packages;
  • Plan and support the Procurement Department such that all Civil and owner-supplied bulks are on hand at site in a timely manner for any given facility (examples: cement powder, aggregates, admixtures, rebar, piles, liners, geotextiles, culverts etc.);
  • Maintain site real-time inventories for all of the above bulks as they are being consumed;
  • Provide proactive and timely support to the permitting team when solicited to enable timely issuance of the submittals with a view of obtaining the required permits in a timely manner;
  • Take ownership of all the As-Constructed reports that are to be submitted to the various regulators;
  • Manage all the inspection and test plans whenever required for given facilities inclusive of the Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs), processing and following up on all corresponding corrective measures and close-out;
  • Lead civil-related Value Engineering Assessments when deemed necessary for both internal and external designs with a view of optimizing H& S, cost and schedule attributes;
  • Lead constructability reviews for both external and internal designs for the various project-related facilities.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent;
  • 10 years+ of experience in civil engineering and/or a similar role;
  • Excellent knowledge of underground and open pit projects is an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
