Position summary
The Payroll team are responsible for the timely and accurate payroll payments for all Downer employees. This includes preparation of payroll related data, customer service, reconciliations as well as the review and inclusion of Master Data activities.

The Payroll Team Leader Lead is responsible for the daily co-ordination and input into the delivery of a high-quality comprehensive payroll portfolio. The role is responsible for providing training and support to the payroll team and is required to assist in the completion of the team's allocation of work and setting individual goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

There is an expectation of this role to provide information to BSC management in the form of daily, weekly and monthly reporting, coordinate and allocate teams workloads, adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), complete complex enquiries and tasks, coaching and development of staff, participation in PDP processes and/or performance management as required, and provide assistance to the Payroll Manager.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • 2+ years' experience managing a team, including responsibility for organising and delegating workload, performance and development planning, tracking and reporting on KPI's and performance management if required
  • Demonstrable experience in superior customer service
  • Evident delivery of timely and accurate HR/Payroll services in an autonomous role with a high volume of transactions (minimum 600-700 emps) with a minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Pay Global, Attaché, Meridian, SAP, Oracle V12 and/or Oracle Express HR as determined by role
  • Managed workload distribution at a senior level - capable of assisting the team to complete workload and acting as an escalation point for the rest of the payroll team

In addition, you will be:
  • Able to effectively lead and manage a team, including the ability to plan and organise work, provide coaching and guidance to team members, set and help team members achieve goals, undertake the Performance and Development Process for team and Performance Management
  • Able to effectively communicate information to a range of stakeholders, including business customers, HR, Finance and Accounting teams, and adapt communication style relevant to audience
  • Able to formulate strategies and concepts to ensure that team delivers in-line with SLA's
  • Able to effectively plan and manage workload, to ensure that individual and team goals and KPI's are met
  • Able to develop own understanding of processes and suggest and/or implement process improvement initiatives as required
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and quickly shift focus as required
