Position summary
Downer has been successful in securing and delivering a number of Substation projects and due to an increase in awarded work, we are seeking a Construction Manager (Substations) to join our Power Projects team based in Melbourne. This role will work in accordance with Downer's values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership regarding zero harm, client, people and financial accountabilities.

The position will be required to travel between our various substation sites in Western Victoria.

ABOUT YOU
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience on construction projects in Greenfield and Brownfield electrical substations
  • AusNet Authorised (highly regarded)
  • Experience in Contractor management is essential - the successful incumbent will need to engage with contractors on daily activities, logistics, project schedule and quality assurance
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to measure construction progress in detail and provide realistic and strong reports to the Project Manager
  • Sound technical construction skills with the ability to solve problems and rectify technical issues
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage & motivate a team
  • A demonstrated capacity to identify, manage and mitigate the key design risks in order that they do not adversely impact on the project through its lifecycle
  • Highly developed skills in all forms of communication that enable effective interaction between management, employees, contractors and the ability to foster relationships with customers/clients
  • Proven ability to take an active and effective role in the overall management of Zero Harm matters and ensure all OHS policies and procedures are adhered to
