SNC-Lavalin and our “Minor Warships & Auxiliary Vessels” (MWAV) team is currently looking for a Maintenance Scheduler out of our Victoria, BC office. Reporting to the Planning & Reporting Supervisor, the Maintenance Scheduler's primary role is to plan and schedule planned and corrective maintenance activities relating to MWAV equipment and vessels.  The Scheduler provides maintenance data and reports for the performance management of Material Baseline Systems, equipment requiring certifications, Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, Defects, waterfront management activities, and other KPIs as directed.  The scheduler may also be required to provide information to other DND and SNC offices on an urgent basis.  This position will understand the guiding principles of maintenance planning and scheduling, as well as RCN vessel operational requirements and restrictions to provide added value in the execution of these duties.  The scheduler will be required to track and update maintenance information in MIS.

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Coordinator and schedule maintenance activities for MWAV vessels Based on the results of field surveys and crew feedback, write repair specifications to return the ships and their equipment to an acceptable condition;
    • Review customer requests and define the statement of work to ensure an understanding of the scope 
    • Congregate technical information from the operations team on engineering changes and maintenance of the vessels 
    • Review correspondence and history on captured data held in MIS 
  • Report maintenance management information, data, and reports for performance management of Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, Defects, and any other KPIs available through MIS relating to MWAV equipment and vessels;
    • Produce reports to provide a greater transparency on the material state and maintenance completion rates of MWAV vessels and equipment  
    • Generate reports to provide a greater transparency for all maintenance activities 
    • Track and log assigned KPIs 


What you will contribute:

  • 3-year marine technical program diploma or certified as a technologist by a recognized provincial, state or federal (national) licensing body or certified to the QL-6B or greater level of military technical training, and possess a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated marine experience within the last 10 years;
  • Familiarization with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001; 
  • A working knowledge of RCN MBS systems, Classification society rules, SOLAS, and Transport Canada is considered an asset; 
  • Be conversant with MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project); 
  • Strong time management skills, with initiative and follow-up capabilities; 
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety programs; 
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance of Enhanced Reliability; 
  • Must be familiar with ISSC waterfront activities; 
  • Experience in the use of MIS is an asset; 
  • Project management experience is considered an asset; 
  • Sound understanding of DND internal workings; 
  • Strong understanding of planning and scheduling of maintenance activities  


Local candidates preferred. Chosen candidate must be able to pass Reliability Clearance with the Department of National Defense.
