The Company is proposing to recommence in-situ mining, at commercial scale production of boric acid and sulfate of potash (SOP).

PURPOSE

The Safety, Health and Environmental Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental and safety laws and regulations at Corporation's mining and metallurgical and chemical processing operations. The role is to create and maintain a safe, environmentally conscious and legally compliant operation, while ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication and safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the point person for developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with all permitting safety and environmental laws and regulations, including:

•Responsible for compiling, updating, maintaining, and filing all permit applications, variances, plans, reports, and studies required by environmental regulation and law.

•Responsible for the application/maintenance of all permits and variances associated with environmental issues.

•Prepare and submit reports to County, State, and Federal agencies concerning plant projects and/or legislative requirements.

•Oversee timely and accurate mandatory annual reports required by environmental laws(s) and/or agencies. Attend public meetings and hearings as required.

•Serve as lead person for safety initiatives and spearheading a safe, accountable and responsible culture as it applies to safety and environmental activities.

•Act as Company representative to professional and industry organizations concerning environmental and safety issues.

•Develop significant data, write reports, and make recommendations, which can be used by management as a basis for making decisions on environmental issues.

•Work within cross-functional teams and coach, mentor, supervise and lead direct reports.

•Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

•Ability to work independently and to handle multiple, competing priorities in an organized manner required.

•Perform risk assessments.

•Provide process environmental and safety documentation and operating instructions.

•Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent prior experience with an MSHA/OSHA-governed operation is required. Five plus years' environmental and safety in a mining type environment is necessary. The incumbent should have experience with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Strong knowledge of Federal Mine Safety & Health Act, DNR and EPA compliance reporting and records is necessary.

The successful candidate must have experience with water quality data collection and interpretation. A proactive safety and environmental track record is required. The individual must demonstrate strong computer skills (i.e., ArcGIS, MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint). United States citizenship or valid work visa along with a valid driver's license is required. An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test is necessary.

This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•Demonstrated project management, leadership and initiative capability.

•Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate and negotiate with governmental agencies and general public.

•Proven problem-solving skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects on company wide basis.

•A working knowledge of safety and environmental issues within the mining industry, and a mature and level-headed approach to decision-making and addressing issues.

•The ability to identify and attach appropriate urgency to the requirements of various environmental regulations.

•Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work. The individual must be capable of meeting deadlines and managing a sizable workload.

•Highly motivated self starter with ability to work in team environment and appropriately handle conflict resolution.
