New Found Gold Corp is a leading edge gold exploration company based in Toronto, Canada. The company’s Queensway Gold project covers over 150,000 ha of the Gander Gold Belt in central Newfoundland. The company is well financed and moving forward with an aggressive exploration program in 2020.

New Found Gold Corp (NFGC) is seeking a structural geologist to join their exploration team in central Newfoundland  Reporting to the Project Manager the structural geologist will be working from the company’s Gander office.

Position Responsibilities

• Geology field work including geological mapping and creation of geology maps, models
• Working within GIS, Leapfrog and related software and managing data related to field activities
• Preparation of reports and activities updates
• Applied geoscience research relating to ore deposit formation
• Core logging and managing QA/QC data along with diamond drill supervision
• Directing field crews completing regional mapping, core logging and ensuring proper sample collection procedures are followed
• Commitment to health and safety practices and acting to ensure environmentally sound field practices are employed by field personnel
• Conducting field visits as required to assess property
• Travel required outside of Canada, specifically South America and Australia

Qualifications

• Ph.D. level education in Structural Geology or similar discipline
• Must be registered with or able to register with Professional Engineers & Geoscientists Newfoundland & Labrador as a Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo) or Geoscientist in training (GIT)
• > 3 Years of experience working in mining exploration with strong background in field work
• Experience directing field and drilling personnel
• Strong understanding of structurally controlled epigenetic gold deposits and interpretation of mineral systems
• Theoretical background with demonstrated competence in defining applied solutions
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 22 Kg
• Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
• Proficiency with GIS/ioGAS/Office/Leapfrog
• Able to work in all-weather field conditions and familiar with working in remote locations
• Valid Driver’s License

Position Information

• Full time, permanent position
• Languages: English
• Position based in Gander, NL with either relocation or travel to Gander, NL and occasional business travel required to other locations within the United States, South America and Australia
• Working remotely from home part of the time would be possible
• Salary $110,000-130,000 per year
• Participation in Company stock option plan
• Relocation and travel package offered to the Qualifying candidate up to CAD $10,000
