We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to work in the Analytical Laboratory team at our Bell Bay Aluminum smelter.

This role is a great opportunity for an individual who has had quality systems and wet analytical chemistry experience and is looking for an opportunity with future career prospects. Reporting to the Crew Leader, you will:
  • Assist with the management and development of quality systems;
  • Enhance current processes; including the development and validation of new methods;
  • Work with XRF/XRD, AAS and Segmented Flow analytical platforms;
  • Support a diverse analytical laboratory covering raw materials, process control and environmental science portfolios.

What you'll bring
  • A bachelor degree in chemistry or relevant experience
  • Analytical chemistry experience
  • An understanding of quality systems - particularly ISO 17025 or ISO 9001

Where you'll be working

Bell Bay Aluminium is part of the Rio Tinto Group, a global leader in aluminium, which is one of the world's most widely used metals. Based approximately 50 kilometres from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, the smelter produces primary aluminium products.
